Confessions, Side Projects & Helen's WIP Collection
Hello lovely makers, and welcome back to another week of confessions, finished objects, and the kind of yarn shop chaos we wouldn't trade for anything. Pull up a chair, grab a brew, and let's get into it. 🧶
The Confession: I Started Something New
Yes. I know. I was mid-way through Quiet Sky and I did it anyway — I cast on a brand new baby blanket project. There, I said it. In my defence, the yarn was right there, the pattern was calling to me, and sometimes you just have to follow the creative pull. No regrets. (Okay, maybe a tiny bit of regret. But mostly no regrets.)
The baby blanket is coming along beautifully and Quiet Sky will absolutely be finished... eventually. Both projects are very much alive and well, just competing for hook time.
Helen's WIP Collection: The Reckoning Continues
If you've been following along, you'll know that our very own Helen has a WIP collection that is, let's say, impressively extensive. We're talking 31 projects strong. A yarn legacy. A fibre archive. A testament to the optimism of every maker who has ever thought "I'll just cast this on quickly."
Well, this week Helen is on a mission. She has finished not one but TWO projects from the legendary pile. TWO! At this rate she'll have it down to a manageable 29 by Christmas. We're cheering her on with every stitch. 🎉
Now, I must confess to something. You know how I mentioned my powers of persuasion earlier? Well... I may have used them. Helen came in this week and, through what I can only describe as gentle encouragement and zero pressure whatsoever, I convinced her to cast on a beautiful sweater for her granddaughter. Yes, that does mean the WIP pile goes back up by one. Yes, I am aware of the irony. But honestly, have you seen Helen? She does not look old enough to be a grandmother — and before anyone says anything, I know, I know! 😂 The sweater is going to be absolutely gorgeous and we cannot wait to see it finished.
Sashiko on the Horizon
We are absolutely buzzing to announce that a Sashiko workshop is coming up! If you've never tried Sashiko — the beautiful Japanese embroidery technique — this is your sign. We'll be sharing more details very soon, so keep an eye on the newsletter and our social channels. It's going to be a good one.
Community FOs, New Projects & Shannon's Ongoing Territorial Expansion
What a week it's been in the community! The finished objects are rolling in and the new project energy is absolutely infectious.
First up — Paula has finished a stunning cardigan in Dream Cloud and honestly, could there be a better yarn choice for a cosy cardigan? Soft, squishy, dreamy. We are obsessed. 💙
And Angie has finished her doll! We haven't seen it yet but the anticipation is real — Angie, we need photos immediately please. The people need to see this. 🧸
There are also loads of exciting new projects being cast on across the community this week — the autumn making season is clearly well and truly underway. We love to see it!
And finally... Shannon. Shannon continues to creep into my personal area with the kind of quiet stealth that is frankly impressive. This week the culprit was my colour box — she was eyeing it up with a look I can only describe as suspicious intent. Shannon, I see you. Those colour Boxes are very expensive and they are not up for grabs. Step away from the colour box. 😂
A Gift for the Shop
We were completely bowled over this week when a Lucy gifted us the most beautiful wall hanging for the shop. It's now proudly displayed and adds such a special touch to the space. We are so grateful — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This community really is something special.
Pattern Inspiration This Week

A Sunday in Great Yarmouth with Emma from Crafts with Heart
On Sunday we had the loveliest day trip to Great Yarmouth to visit our friend Emma from Crafts with Heart — always a joy! Emma took us down to the seafront to see something really rather special.
The Reprezent Project is an urban arts organisation based in Great Yarmouth that focuses on providing artistic expression and creative opportunities for individuals at risk of social and economic disadvantage. They empower communities through projects that celebrate creativity, identity, and place — and their latest work is no exception.
We got to see their brand new mural on the seafront, created as part of their Parkt! event, celebrating Great Yarmouth's wonderful holidaymaking heritage. It's bold, colourful, and full of heart — exactly the kind of community-driven creativity that we find so inspiring. If you're ever in Great Yarmouth, it's well worth a visit. It was a brilliant way to spend a Sunday — good company, sea air, and art. The creative cup is very much refilled. 🎨
