Cassie Ward — The Missing Yarn Meet Cassie Ward, the colour‑loving crochet queen behind The Missing Yarn. Known for her bold palettes, festival vibes, and modern‑meets‑vintage flair, Cassie turns yarn into wearable joy. She first picked up a hook back in 2011 and hasn’t stopped stitching since — creating designs that are as fun and fearless as she is. Cassie’s patterns have appeared in Inside Crochet, Simply Crochet, and Crochet Now, and she’s the author of My Crochet Wardrobe, Granny Square Fashion, and 100 Essential Crochet Motifs. Expect colour, laughter, and plenty of “ooh, I need to make that!” moments when she joins us at the retreat.

Itinerary

10:00am — Arrival. Adie will be there to welcome you; refreshments will be available. Welcome talk and introductions to the workshop tutors and guest designer.

10:30am — Workshops begin. We will have a variety of workshops for you to choose from. If you wish, you can work on your own project or the Welcome to Autumn project.

1:00pm — Lunch will be served, with free time to enjoy your meal, grab a drink from our refreshment station or the bar, and enjoy some social time with new and old friends — or take a stroll around the hotel grounds.

2:00pm — Workshops continue into the afternoon. Alternatively, work on your own chosen project or speak to our guest designer.

3:30pm — Cakes and refreshments will be served. Take some time to enjoy a sweet treat and browse the pop-up shop.

5:00pm — Adie closes the day.

Join Emma from Crafts With Heart for this introduction to the world of journaling. Because sometimes your yarn stash deserves its own diary. In this creative session, we’ll explore how to capture your projects, colour palettes, and crafty daydreams in a beautiful yarn journal — part scrapbook, part sketchbook, all heart. Expect laughter, doodles, swatches, and a few “I can’t believe I made that!” moments as we turn memories and makes into pages worth keeping. Whether you’re a note‑taker, a doodler, or just love pretty stationery, this workshop is all about celebrating your maker story — one stitch and scribble at a time.

Welcome To Weaving

Join Victoria for a relaxed introduction to the art of weaving — a mindful, tactile craft that’s all about texture, colour, and rhythm. Whether she’s guiding you through simple loom techniques or creative free‑form weaving, expect a session full of inspiration and hands‑on fun. You’ll play with yarns, fibres, and maybe a few unexpected materials to create something uniquely yours. Think slow‑making, soothing moments, and that satisfying “look what I made!” feeling. More details coming soon — but trust us, you’ll want a seat at this loom.

Marvellous Mosaic Workshop

Join Lynn for a colourful adventure into the world of mosaic crochet — where bold patterns meet playful creativity. This workshop is all about discovering the magic of colourwork and texture, one stitch at a time. You’ll learn how simple stitches can create stunning geometric designs that look far more complicated than they are. Expect laughter, yarn tangles, and that satisfying “oh wow, I did that!” moment as your mosaic masterpiece starts to take shape. The exact project is still a secret (Lynn’s keeping us guessing!), but trust us — it’s going to be gorgeous, fun, and totally addictive.

Bonnie's Brilliant Workshop

Join Bonnie for a day of colour, creativity, and yarn‑filled surprises! She’s cooking up something special — the project reveal is coming soon — but expect plenty of laughter, inspiration, and that signature Over The Hook energy. Whether it’s bold stitches, playful textures, or a totally unexpected twist, Bonnie’s workshops are all about enjoying the process and discovering new ways to make your yarn sing. Come curious, leave inspired — and maybe a little bit obsessed.

Lowestoft station is the nearest railway station, with regular services from Norwich and Ipswich.

From Lowestoft station, take a taxi or local bus. Journey time approximately 10 minutes.

By bus

Local bus services run from Lowestoft town centre to Oulton. Check First Eastern Counties for timetables.

The nearest bus stop is a short walk from the hotel.

By taxi or ride-share

Taxis are available from Lowestoft station and the town centre.

1. Booking & Payment
- Tickets must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
- Your place is only confirmed once payment has been received and you have received a booking confirmation email.
- Prices are listed in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
2. No Refund Policy
All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. We are unable to offer refunds under any circumstances, including personal illness, travel disruption, or change of plans.
3. Ticket Transfers
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person at no charge, provided you notify us in writing at Overhtehook1@gmail.co.uk no later than 14 days before the event. Please include the full name and contact details of the person taking your place. Transferred tickets cannot be resold for profit.
4. Event Changes & Cancellation by Over The Hook
- In the unlikely event that we need to cancel or significantly change the retreat (date, venue, or programme), we will notify all ticket holders as soon as possible.
- If we cancel the event, you will receive a full refund of your ticket price.
- We are not responsible for any travel, accommodation, or other costs you may have incurred.
5. Photography & Media
Over The Hook may take photographs or video at the retreat for use on our website and social media. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let us know in writing before the event.
6. Liability
Over The Hook's liability is limited to the face value of your ticket. We accept no responsibility for loss, damage, or injury during the retreat, except where required by law.
